Alfred, Lord Tennyson on the Transcendent

Meditation, properly understood and practiced, provides any individual with the sublime experience of his or her own deep inner Self, the Transcendent, the fourth state of consciousness, which lies beyond waking dreaming, and sleeping states of consciousness.

This is a universal experience, a unique experience, a profound experience—and the birthright of every human being. Alfred, Lord Tennyson, Poet Laureate of the United Kingdom in the 1800s, offered this beautiful description of the Transcendent…

“All at once, individuality itself seemed to dissolve and fade away into boundless being, and this not a confused state but the clearest, the surest—utterly beyond words where death was an almost laughable impossibility.”

The David Lynch Foundation has provided scholarships for over 100,000 at-risk youth to learn to meditate, experience the Transcendent, and develop their inner unbounded nature.

Research on these meditating students (from age 10 years and up) has found concrete, real-world benefits: improved academic achievements; less stress, anxiety, depression and violent behavior; and growing happiness and realization of the infinite potential of life.

Thank you, David Lynch.
